CNVEP adds its voice to the growing worldwide movement for the protections of children's rights. CNVEP is also the west coast chapter of EPPOCH - Ending Physical Punishment of Children.

EPPOCH celebrates the annual International Spank Out Day April 30th by hosting its annual community celebration, Festival Of Childhood. In addition, CNVEP invites all to lend support to several important initiatives at this time.

CNVEP supports the Campaign for the United States Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, www.childrightscampaign.org. This campaign is urging that the US government ratify this Convention and work to enforce each article to protect the rights of the child.

The ONLY two countries in the world that have not signed the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child are the United States and Somalia. On hundred and ninety two governments have accepted an obligation to take all appropriate legislative, administrative, social and educational measures to protect the child from all forms of "violence". Seventeen countries in the world have banned spanking www.nospank.net.

The Global Initiative to End All Corporal Punishment of Children has issued a Global Report (2006) "Ending legalized violence against children". This is a comprehensive report that urges the passing of a Global Initiative for the prohibition of all violence against children, including corporal punishment www.endcorporalpunishment.org.

Many of us are familiar with the children's singer, RAFFI. He is now promoting The Covenant for Honoring Children available at www.Raffinews.com.
